If you are thinking about adopting a Greyhound, please consider . . .

Adopting a Greyhound is a long-term commitment . . . ten or more wonderful years! Before filling out an application, please take time to seriously think over your decision. We are looking for adopters who will take these beautiful dogs into their homes as a permanent member of their family.

Life changes do occur that are unforeseen at the time of adoption, and all too often, the dogs are returned as a result. However, you should consider that your Greyhound, as a member of your family, will always be included in whatever life adjustments are necessary. In addition, it is possible that your Greyhound may get sick or have behavioral issues that you must deal with. This is part of your commitment as an adopter. Your dog is your priority.

We know that in some situations, it is absolutely in the best interest of all to return the dog to the adoption group to be re-homed. You must understand, however, that as adaptable as Greyhounds are, it is very hard on them to be removed from their home and family after several months or years and made to readjust to a new living situation.

If after careful consideration you decide to adopt a Greyhound, know that you are giving yourself and your new Greyhound the chance of having a long and happy relationship.

Robbie
Robbie

Robbie is a 5-year-old brindle with white doe-eyed girl who loves—in no particular order—men, women, well-behaved children, cookies, car rides, walks, and stuffies. Oh, does this sweetheart love her stuffies!

A few reasons you might fall in love with Robbie - She walks politely on lead without pulling, is a good eater who can easily adjust to dietary changes, has no potty issues, and doesn't mind grooming details. To illustrate how smart she is, it took her mere seconds to learn that by throwing the Kong toy down she could make cookies bounce out of it.

Robbie’s best home situation would be one in which she is not the only pet. She loves being with greyhounds but is also compatible other dog breeds. And she is cat safe.

If Robbie has a single issue, it’s that she has separation anxiety and prefers not to be kenneled for more than a short while. Because her foster mom works full time, Robbie now realizes that when her person leaves the home, it's not forever. Still, if she had her druthers, someone in her family would be retired, work from home or be able to take a dog to work. The next best situation would be for her to live with someone who works part time.

Very affectionate, Robbie will sit in attention waiting to be acknowledged. If you are looking for a faithful and well-mannered companion who will joyfully accompany you anywhere, at any time of day, then this beauty—who raced as TBO’s Robbie—is your girl.

Wind
Wind

Wind is a beautiful and graceful 2 year old. He is a high stepper with a prance that stands him out in a group. Wind has matured so much in the last few months. Although, he still has his puppy moments. He occasionally rearranges shoes or shakes out a throw rug. Wind has become accustomed to having foster brothers around so a home with another dog would suit him well. Wind enjoys sleeping in on weekends and gets along well with cats and other dogs. What a guy!

Wind weighs 69 pounds, and his racing name is DK's Wind Tunnel.
