There are expenses that occur in all aspects of owning a greyhound. If your hound gets loose and the “find a hound” team is mobilized, there are expenses to consider. The initial expense of printing and posting flyers is not great but after the hound is returned home there can be major veterinarian expenses. Sometimes people need assistance with these expenses. There are also the people who cannot get out and “search” but want to help in some way, so a donation to that particular dog’s fund is their way of helping.
There are greyhounds that come to NLGA with special needs. For example, there was an elderly dog that came to us with serious medical problems at the age of 11 and our organization chose to do whatever it could to make his last years special. Some people wanted to contribute to his care but were unsure how to do so. The Katurah Fund will allow donations to special funds for designated hounds so the NLGA family can help those in need.
Contributions are always accepted by check, of course, but now donations will be available through PayPal. You will be able to designate the hound or cause of your choice. There is a system in place so that you are assured your donation is earmarked for the correct fund. The Board of Directors will monitor these funds along with all other financial aspects of NLGA.
NLGA members support one another for various reasons, all greyhound related. The Katurah Fund will allow donations anonymously and those who will benefit are the wonderful greyhounds who share our lives.
